Company Profile: Our Story
The VoiceNation Story
VoiceNation can trace its roots back to the earliest days of voicemail development. While head of voicemail development for ITT (Cortelco division), VoiceNation founder Jay Reeder had the opportunity to create a test lab. He tested all the latest voicemail technologies and validated what worked and what didn’t. Jay used his research and knowledge to develop revolutionary voicemail systems with scalability that is unmatched even today.
Jay founded his first company, Revox, in 1994. His first independent proprietary voicemail product was known as Simplicity. Later, he founded a second business, Atlanta Voicemail, to function as a test bed so that he could continue to develop and market new voicemail products. Both of these companies successfully brought new features and functionality to the market that were previously unseen in the industry. Because of great platform reliability, telephone company equipment manufacturers, such as DTI and Coppercom, began to private label Jay Reeder’s voicemail solutions and market them to carriers throughout the US.
During 2000-2001, Jay saw promise in outsourced telecommunication services and knew that a hosted solution was the best way to deploy this technology. He founded his own service bureau, VoicePlus, in 2002 to offer full-featured corporate PBX and voicemail systems through a hosted platform. VoicePlus products delivered big business phone systems to small businesses and provided robust disaster recovery capabilities. The VoicePlus concept was so successful that the company was fielding over 100 inquiries a day from the very beginning!
VoicePlus evolved into what is now known as VoiceNation. In 2003, VoiceNation was officially launched by Jay Reeder and Graham Taylor. Since its inception, VN has been touted as a front runner in the telecommunications industry. As a robust and scalable company, we are able to offer small-medium sized businesses unique features and benefits that have typically been reserved for larger businesses willing to spend more. We are the architects of our own technology. This fact-coupled with our team of brainiacs, allows us to adapt capabilities to mimic the features and functionalities that our customers, partners, or resellers request.
VoiceNation is a company of firsts and well-positioned as a knowledge leader in this industry. Additionally, the ongoing commitment to employee development and community outreach has earned its CEO, Jay Reeder, a spot on Glassdoor’s 2014 list of “The 20 Highest Rated Telecom CEOs To Work For”.
