The motto for New Hampshire is “Live Free or Die.” Of the fifty states, New Hampshire definitely deserves this motto. New Hampshire was one of the original thirteen states to ratify the United States Constitution, is home to the first primary of the U.S. election cycle, has no sales tax, and has a deep history. New Hampshire has produced the likes of astronaut Alan Shepard, legendary poet Robert Frost, and President Franklin Pierce. It is also a nirvana to outdoor enthusiasts looking to ski at some of the best resorts on the east coast, hikers looking to conquer some of the most challenging terrain of the Appalachian Trail within the White Mountains, and boaters seeking a pleasant afternoon on various lakes. New Hampshire is also home to dozens of universities and colleges, such as Dartmouth College and Colby-Sawyer College. The state brings in most of its money through tourism and shopping, thanks to the zero percent sales tax. All in all, this makes New Hampshire a great place to live “free.”
