The Homestead Act of the 1860’s brought many settlers to Nebraska. The settlers were enticed by the free and open land, which was perfect for cattle grazing. The capital of Nebraska is Lincoln, but the state’s largest city is Omaha. Omaha is home to five Fortune 500 companies, including ConAgra, Berkshire Hathaway, Mutual of Omaha, Union Pacific Corporation, and the Kiewit Corporation. Nebraska, though, is known for its agricultural production. Beef, corn, sorghum, soybeans, and pork are some of the products produced in the state. Nebraska is the gateway to the west, and it is an excellent place for business, farming, and is a wonderful place to raise a family.
